| As mentioned elsewhere, the 19th Century zoologists were very
accomplished in making anatomically accurate drawings of the animals they studied.
Lankester's drawing, at the left, shows clearly the large triangular foot characteristic
of this mollusc, as well as the two folds of the mantle that almost wholly cover its thin
shell. Pyrula is an older synonym for the genus now named Ficus. |
